A Movable Response
Mollie Ottina made RMHC her primary charity when she learned about the urgent health care needs of children in her hometown, Naples, Fla. Her concern for her community led Mollie to support RMHC of Southwest Florida in its goal to establish a Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program in Collier County. Mollie not only continues to donate to the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, but she also serves on an advisory council that oversees the program. And she tells people she meets about the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, and asks them to join the cause.
Donations like Mollie’s help the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program strengthen its community’s health care infrastructure. Because of the Southwest Florida Ronald McDonald Care Mobile’s success, an additional fixed-site dental clinic is being built to serve children in need and a pediatric dental residency program was created. “That magnifies each donor’s gift to the Care Mobile program,” Mollie says.
Small Scale House, Large Donation
Gabriele Dawo, CEO of Town & Country House in Germany, was moved to donate to RMHC when she saw a scale model of the Ronald McDonald House in Hamburg, Germany. The 15-bedroom American-style country House features wide verandas, a library and a lounge with fireplace. “I felt magically attracted to the House, and I spontaneously committed to donating to the tower,” Gabriele says. “I know that all the money I donate is going right where it is needed.”
Gabriele also donated to help build the Ronald McDonald House in Cologne, Germany, and she recruits other businesses to join her in supporting RMHC. “The House provides families with a comfortable place to stay near their child’s hospital and helps relieve their financial burden during this hard time,” she says.
