Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Program

Many children who don’t have access to primary medical care go without necessary immunizations and routine physical exams. These children are at great risk to develop acute conditions, dental problems, chronic diseases and even serious lifelong illnesses. Minor health problems, such as asthma, are often undiagnosed until they become larger problems that are more difficult and expensive to treat.

The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program has bridged the gap between hospitals and these underserved children since 2000. Pediatric hospital volunteers bring these clinics-on-wheels to children in need. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program provides cost-effective, high-quality medical, dental and health education services to underserved children in rural and urban areas around the world.

The program also reduces dependence on expensive health resources, such as hospital emergency services, and provides continuity of care by offering follow-up appointments and referrals to other primary health care physicians and dentists. The program also helps eligible families enroll in federally assisted health insurance initiatives such as “Insure Kids Now.”

All Ronald McDonald Care Mobile services are provided in a 40-foot long, 8-foot wide, state of the art van built specifically for delivering pediatric health care services. Each vehicle includes two patient examination rooms, a laboratory, and reception and medical records areas.

Depending on community needs, Ronald McDonald Care Mobile services can include:

  • Asthma management and education
