    RONALD McDONALD FAMILY ROOM

Offering a place to rest and regroup at the hospital

When families walk into a Ronald McDonald Family Room, we want them to forget they’re in a hospital. Often steps away from a pediatric or intensive care unit, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms offer a place to rest and regroup right at the hospital, just moments away from their sick child.

Help Children Heal and Cope Better
Research shows that a family presence in the hospital helps children heal and cope better. Staying close by allows parents to better communicate with their child’s medical team and improves adherence to complicated treatment plans.

    Services for Families
Services may vary from one Ronald McDonald Family Room to the next, but families will often find:

    • A kitchen area that includes a stove or microwave
    • Shower facilities
    • Sleeping rooms
    • Laundry facilities
    • Internet access
    • Reference books
    • A seating area with a television
    • A quiet room

      Running with Rose for RMHC

Five generations of my family took a walk led by my mother, Rose, who celebrated her 100th birthday in September. This wasn’t just any walk; it was the Running for Hope 5K Run/Fun Walk to raise money to support RMHC of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana. Surrounded by one of her daughters, two ... Read More

RMHC helped us cope while our child was hospitalized

I knew about RMHC before our daughter Autumn was hospitalized, but I had no idea what it would mean to us to be able to stay at the House. I had no idea just how much thought and effort staff and volunteers put into making life easier for families with sick children. Our eleven-month-old daughter Au... Read More

We felt so lucky to be offered a room at the House, but even luckier when we got to go home three months later.I had just turned 15 when I started my tr... Read More

My three-year-old son, Brady, has had extensive medical issues since he was eight weeks old and developed tremendous difficulty eating. Since that time he has been in the hospital – sometimes for weeks at a time – over and over again. After all this time, we understand that we may never know the roo... Read More

      Miracle Twins Celebrate First Birthday

As the mother of four girls, I was so excited that one of the twins I was expecting was a boy. When we learned there was a blockage in his urethra causing major kidney damage and putting our unborn son in danger, we were scared but determined to find a way to help him. We pushed doctors to try every... Read More
